At the end of January, a large-scale project, “Promoting Transparency and Public Oversight in Healthcare,”<\/strong> was completed, focusing on strengthening partnerships between medical institutions, local authorities, and patient communities. The initiative was implemented by our foundation with the support of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED)<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The goal of the project was to create an effective platform for interaction and the development of a patient-centered healthcare system at the local level<\/strong>. Participants had the opportunity to explore successful examples of healthcare reform implementation, adopt best practices, and adapt them within their own communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cAn effective healthcare system at the community level is only possible through collaboration between hospital management, local authorities, and the public. That is why we focused on uniting these key stakeholders to jointly develop optimal solutions for improving access to medical services. Our aim was to create a space where hospitals could not only learn from one another but also receive support in implementing change,\u201d<\/strong> said Inna Ivanenko, Executive Director of the CF \u201cPatients of Ukraine\u201d.<\/p>\n

As part of the project, six study visits to medical institutions across Ukraine were conducted, involving 36 communities<\/strong>. Coalitions formed in each community brought together representatives from local governments, hospital management, and civil society. Together, they not only studied best practices in Ukrainian hospitals but also developed their own initiatives to enhance healthcare services in their localities.<\/p>\n

As a result, <\/span>28 communities have already implemented developed projects<\/b> in their medical institutions, improving access to <\/span>high-quality healthcare services and enhancing their efficiency.<\/b> Among the implemented initiatives are the establishment of <\/span>supervisory and guardianship boards, the launch of call centers, operating rooms, training and resource centers for parents, and the development of a patient service system.<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cThis project was unique in both its theme and format: a platform where those driving change could gather in a comfortable and open environment, with a deep understanding of the situation and a sincere commitment to transformation. It is a success story of aligning interests, aspirations, and efforts among people who are shaping a better future for our country, particularly in the healthcare sector,\u201d<\/b> said <\/span>Oksana Musiyenko, Project Coalition Engagement Coordinator.<\/b><\/p>\n

The <\/span>CF \u201cPatients of Ukraine\u201d<\/b> will continue working to strengthen <\/span>transparency in medical institutions<\/b> and foster <\/span>partnership interactions<\/b> to ensure <\/span>greater access to quality medical services.<\/b><\/p>\n
