\nCF\u00a0\u00abPatients Ukraine\u00bb sent an\u00a0open letter to\u00a0the leaders of\u00a0the State Expert Centre, which controls the registration of\u00a0medicines in\u00a0Ukraine, urging not to\u00a0block, but accelerate the registration of\u00a0the innovative medicines to\u00a0combat hepatitis in\u00a0Ukraine.<\/p>\n
In\u00a0case of\u00a0registration of\u00a0a\u00a0number of\u00a0drugs in\u00a0Ukraine, the treatment course for viral hepatitis\u00a0C (HCV) can be\u00a0reduced to\u00a012\u00a0weeks instead of\u00a048. And due to\u00a0the special price granted for our country, it\u00a0will be\u00a0possible to\u00a0provide 2.5 times more patients with treatment for the state funds. Furthermore, the effectiveness of\u00a0the innovative treatment is\u00a092%, and patients easily tolerate it\u00a0due to\u00a0minimal side effects.<\/p>\n
According to\u00a0the Head of\u00a0the Board of\u00a0the CF\u00a0\u00abPatients of\u00a0Ukraine\u00bb Dmytro Sherembey<\/strong>, the State Expert Center had the opportunity to\u00a0register medicines that have all necessary international quality certificates a\u00a0month ago, but wasted it\u00a0and still continues to\u00a0do\u00a0it. \u2014\u00a0\u00abWe\u00a0are dealing either with the lobbying of\u00a0pharmaceutical companies, who will find themselves in\u00a0disadvantageous positions in\u00a0case competitors enter the market, or\u00a0sabotage within the state institution. In\u00a0any case, thousands of\u00a0Ukrainian patients became hostages of\u00a0circumstance. They will be\u00a0able to\u00a0receive treatment this year, if\u00a0the State Expert Center registers 3\u00a0drugs of\u00a0different manufacturing companies that have submitted documents to\u00a0the State Expert Center for registration of\u00a0the innovative medicines.\u00bb<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 said D.\u00a0Sherembey<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The combat for accessibility of\u00a0the innovative and effective viral hepatitis\u00a0C treatment for Ukrainians lasts for several years. CF\u00a0\u00abPatients of\u00a0Ukraine\u00bb has implemented a\u00a0number of\u00a0measures and reached, together with the Ministry of\u00a0Health, during negotiations with pharmaceutical manufacturing companies, agreement regarding the special price for the drug on\u00a0the territory of\u00a0our state<\/a>.<\/p>\n The patients\u2019 position regarding the necessity of\u00a0introduction of\u00a0modern highly effective HCV treatment in\u00a0Ukraine to\u00a0replace the existing methods of\u00a0treatment with pegylated interferon, which are used less and less in\u00a0the world treatment practices, is\u00a0supported by\u00a0the expert and medical community. The corresponding document has been developed and submitted to\u00a0the Ministry of\u00a0Health in\u00a0early May<\/a> (Enclosure\u00a01).<\/p>\n Generally, the problem of\u00a0viral hepatitis has become increasingly important in\u00a0recent years. According to\u00a0public organizations estimates up\u00a0to\u00a08% of\u00a0the Ukrainian population live with hepatitis\u00a0C virus (HCV), which makes approximately 3\u00a0million people. The risk of\u00a0being infected with hepatitis is\u00a0ten times higher than with HIV, and it\u00a0is\u00a0often diagnosed at\u00a0the stage of\u00a0cancer or\u00a0cirrhosis. If\u00a0the virus is\u00a0detected in\u00a0time and the treatment with modern medicines is\u00a0initiated, more than\u00a090% of\u00a0patients fully recover.
