2.5 thousand signatures of\u00a0European citizens have already been collected by\u00a0European non-governmental organizations in\u00a0support of\u00a0their Petition to\u00a0the President of\u00a0Ukraine with a\u00a0call to\u00a0allocate funds for the combating of\u00a0the AIDS, tuberculosis and hepatitis epidemics spread in\u00a0Ukraine and for saving lives of\u00a0the fatally diseased Ukrainians.<\/p>\n
\u00abWe\u00a0were impressed by\u00a0the number of\u00a0HIV-infected people in\u00a0Ukraine,\u00a0<\/em>\u2014 says Norbert Hendriks, campaign leader of\u00a0Dutch Aids Fonds<\/strong>. \u2014\u00a0We\u00a0know that the Ukrainian government has spent a\u00a0huge amount of\u00a0money on\u00a0the Euro 2012 in\u00a0Ukraine, and we\u00a0hope that next year\u2019s funds will be\u00a0used on\u00a0the most important thing in\u00a0the state\u00a0\u2014 people. When we\u00a0found out that Ukraine has 360,000 people infected with HIV\u00a0\u2014 we\u00a0were shocked. This should not be\u00a0happening in\u00a0a\u00a0Middle Income Country such as\u00a0Ukraine. For comparison, in\u00a0Netherlands, the estimated number of\u00a0people with HIV\u00a0is 24,000.\u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n \u00abI\u00a0signed the Petition to\u00a0the President of\u00a0Ukraine, because\u00a0I hope that the appeal from all European countries will help to\u00a0convince the Ukrainian government to\u00a0allocate funds for AIDS, tuberculosis and Hepatitis treatment. We\u00a0do\u00a0not understand the fact that a\u00a0lot of\u00a0money were allocated to\u00a0the stadiums so\u00a0that we\u00a0Europeans could have a\u00a0lot of\u00a0fun and meanwhile that was the price for the lives of\u00a0tens of\u00a0thousands of\u00a0Ukrainian\u00bb<\/em>,\u00a0\u2014 told Ms. Stephany Pandt who signed the Petition.<\/strong><\/p>\n On\u00a0June 20th NGOs held an\u00a0action \u00abMember of\u00a0Parliament\u00a0\u2014 altruist\u00bb near the walls of\u00a0Ukrainian Parliament\u00a0\u2014 Verkhovna Rada.
