Patients and Doctors Demand Appointment of Ulana Suprun to the Position of Health Minister"},"content":{"rendered":"

\nKYIV. On\u00a0February\u00a07, 2019 patients and doctors came to\u00a0the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center to\u00a0protect the medical reform and personally Dr\u00a0Ulana Suprun, the acting Health Minister. The main requirement is\u00a0to\u00a0appoint Ulana Suprun to\u00a0the position of\u00a0the Minister of\u00a0Health!<\/strong><\/p>\n

On\u00a0February 11\u00a0at 1\u00a0pm and on\u00a0February 15\u00a0at 2\u00a0pm, hundreds of\u00a0Ukrainians will get together in\u00a0front of\u00a0the District Administrative Court of\u00a0Kyiv City<\/strong> (Petro Bolbochan St.\u00a08) to\u00a0support Ulana Suprun and the medical reform in\u00a0Ukraine. This is\u00a0a\u00a0challenge to\u00a0everyone who stands for the medical reform, who chose his\/her doctor, who hoped that the system could be\u00a0changed.<\/p>\n

On\u00a0February\u00a05, the judge Sergei Karakashian ruled for prohibiting Ulana Suprun<\/a> to\u00a0perform her duties as\u00a0the acting Health Minister of\u00a0Ukraine. The judge voluntarily suspended Dr\u00a0Suprun from performing her duties even before reviewing the merits of\u00a0the case. The first hearing on\u00a0the case will be\u00a0held already on\u00a0February\u00a015.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0the patients and doctors, this is\u00a0the attack on\u00a0the medical reform and the attempt to\u00a0move backward losing all achievements attained by\u00a0Ulana Suprun\u2019s team.<\/p>\n

\u00abThis is\u00a0a\u00a0shameful decision of\u00a0the court; this is\u00a0a\u00a0knife in\u00a0the back of\u00a0every patient and every citizen of\u00a0Ukraine. Consider that the judges summoned 25\u00a0million of\u00a0Ukrainians who have already supported the medical reform by\u00a0signing a\u00a0declaration with their family doctor. On\u00a0February 15\u00a0we will come to\u00a0the court and support the Minister of\u00a0OUR Health\u00bb<\/em>, says Dmytro Sherembei,<\/strong> Head of\u00a0the Charitable Organization \u00ab100% of\u00a0LIFE\u00bb (previously known as \u2018Network\u2019).<\/p>\n

The President and all members of\u00a0the Government supported Ulana Suprun. The simplest and most reliable solution to\u00a0quickly protect all changes introduced by\u00a0the MOH is\u00a0to\u00a0appoint Ulana Suprun to\u00a0the position of\u00a0Health Minister in\u00a0accordance with the procedure by\u00a0voting at\u00a0the Verkhovna Rada.<\/p>\n

\u00abUlana Suprun and her team have declared war on\u00a0the corrupt schemes. They managed to\u00a0preserve the procurement of\u00a0medicines through the international organizations, which allows providing patients with essential medicines and save about\u00a040% of\u00a0funds spent for additional procurements. These are hundreds of\u00a0millions of\u00a0hryvnias that used to\u00a0go\u00a0to\u00a0the pockets of\u00a0the Ukrainian farm-mafia\u00bb<\/em>, says \u0406nna Ivanenko,<\/strong> Acting Director of\u00a0the CF\u00a0\u00abPatients of\u00a0Ukraine\u00bb.<\/p>\n

The court decision paralyzes the work of\u00a0the Health Ministry which means dozens of\u00a0decisions every minute requiring official approval and signatures. Each of\u00a0these signatures means salaries for doctors, scholarships for students of\u00a0medical universities, medicines for seriously ill patients, measures for protection of\u00a0the national security, protection of\u00a0patients\u2019 rights, delivery of\u00a0vaccines to\u00a0regions, etc.<\/p>\n

Thanks to\u00a0the reform, health facilities that have already entered into contracts with the National Health Service have begun to\u00a0receive payments based on\u00a0the \u2018money follows a\u00a0patient\u2019 principle.<\/p>\n

During the briefing the activists emphasized that active attempts are made to\u00a0revert all these positive changes. It\u00a0is\u00a0deliberately done by\u00a0people who work either for money or\u00a0for the aggressor country.<\/p>\n

More than half of\u00a0the Ukrainian citizens have already chosen their family doctors. This figure is\u00a0much higher than was anticipated by\u00a0the Ukrainian and foreign experts, which indicates a\u00a0strong demand for changes that exists in\u00a0the society.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0the data of\u00a0the sociological group \u00abRating\u00bb, 76,6% of\u00a0Ukrainians are satisfied with their choice and with the health care quality (data for October 2018). More than 24\u00a0000 are registered in\u00a0the e-Health system. Salaries of\u00a0the doctors initially increased 2-3\u00a0times.<\/p>\n
