{"id":11315,"date":"2020-06-03T20:15:19","date_gmt":"2020-06-03T20:15:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/patients.org.ua\/?p=11315"},"modified":"2024-04-16T07:45:29","modified_gmt":"2024-04-16T07:45:29","slug":"more-than-5000-doctors-provided-with-protection-for-two-months-at-cf-patients-of-ukraine-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/patients.org.ua\/en\/news\/more-than-5000-doctors-provided-with-protection-for-two-months-at-cf-patients-of-ukraine-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"More than 5000 Doctors Provided with Protection for Two Months at\u00a0CF\u00a0\u201cPatients of\u00a0Ukraine\u201d Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/patients.org.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/zahystyly-medykiv-bf-patsiyenty-ukrai-ny-01-1024x768-1.webp\" alt=\"image\" \/><br \/>\nThe Charitable Foundation \u201cPatients of\u00a0Ukraine\u201d together with partners, volunteers and people who supported the Foundation for two months raised <strong>UAH 14\u00a0578\u00a0580<\/strong> for protection of\u00a0health workers.<\/p>\n<p>CF \u201cPatients of Ukraine\u201d received charitable contributions from:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>35 donors<\/strong> who donated and\/or raised <strong>UAH 13 944 987.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>1 210 people<\/strong> who donated <strong>UAH 651 592<\/strong> through the fund-raising website.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The most important thing is that we spent this money to procure personal protection equipment (PPE) to protect 5,000 health workers, who save lives all over Ukraine (calculation of doctors\u2019 protection per one shift \u2014 editor).<\/p>\n<p>During the first week of\u00a0coronavirus incidence in\u00a0Ukraine when it\u00a0became known that Ukrainian doctors had no\u00a0protection against virus, the CF\u00a0\u201cPatients of\u00a0Ukraine\u201d created the Coordination Center for COVID-19\u00a0Relief. The Foundation raises funds to\u00a0protect doctors, learns about the needs of\u00a0hospitals, distributes and delivers donations to\u00a0health facilities. CF\u00a0\u201cPatients in\u00a0Ukraine\u201d advises partners, NGOs and donors. We\u00a0assist hospitals, where the need for protection is\u00a0most urgent, advise on\u00a0rapid purchase of\u00a0quality protection means in\u00a0the Ukrainian market, and also help to\u00a0deliver the PPE items in\u00a0different regions of\u00a0Ukraine using volunteers\u2019 help.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Assistance to doctors for two months<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Foundation\u2019s main priority is to protect health workers from coronavirus infection and to help them safely fulfill their mission of rescuing people infected with COVID-19. Currently about 20% of health workers are infected in Ukraine, which is one of the highest rates in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0order to\u00a0protect health workers we\u00a0purchase personal protective equipment. These are masks\u00a0\/ respirators, shields or\u00a0goggles that protect respiratory tract from infection.<\/p>\n<p>We\u00a0also buy protective suits, boot covers, gloves and sanitizers.<\/p>\n<p>Together with our partners during two months we\u00a0have purchased and delivered 257\u00a0912 different PPE items to\u00a0154\u00a0hospitals:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>69\u00a0696\u00a0respirators;<\/li>\n<li>68\u00a0180 protective suits ;<\/li>\n<li>44\u00a0530 pairs of\u00a0gloves,<\/li>\n<li>27\u00a0900\u00a0masks;<\/li>\n<li>15\u00a0548 isolation gowns;<\/li>\n<li>12\u00a0750 boot covers;<\/li>\n<li>7\u00a0000\u00a0caps;<\/li>\n<li>6\u00a0540\u00a0shields;<\/li>\n<li>2\u00a0800\u00a0aprons;<\/li>\n<li>1\u00a0700 bottles of\u00a0sanitizer;<\/li>\n<li>1\u00a0115\u00a0goggles;<\/li>\n<li>153 hand disinfectants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Also together with our partners we\u00a0purchased and delivered 49\u00a0items of\u00a0medical equipment, specifically: 48\u00a0monitors for respiratory medical devices and 1\u00a0respiratory medical device.<\/p>\n<p>Monitors are attached to\u00a0respiratory medical devices and allow real-time monitoring of\u00a0patient\u2019s condition and immediately providing intensive care. Treatment with respiratory medical devices in\u00a0the intensive care unit saves the lives of\u00a0patients with severe COVID-19\u00a0progression.<\/p>\n<p>Another 47\u00a0monitors, 42\u00a0oxygen concentrators and over 15\u00a0000\u00a0PPE items purchased by\u00a0us are on\u00a0the way.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Our partners and donors<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>We\u00a0re\u00a0very grateful to\u00a0our partners who have been working together with\u00a0us for two months making impressive efforts to\u00a0fight the coronavirus effectively. Thank you for your personal involvement and examples of\u00a0service for society!<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, we\u00a0would like to\u00a0thank all people for their donations from UAH 10\u00a0to\u00a0EURO 10\u00a0000. Every contribution is\u00a0important for\u00a0us and it\u00a0protects Ukrainian doctors. Thank you for your proactive stance!<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Joint Initiative<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>For two months, together with partners, we\u00a0have implemented various initiatives and projects to\u00a0raise funds for protection of\u00a0doctors.<\/p>\n<p>The following events were implemented during April and May:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>#cuthairathome challenge initiated by banda Agency and supported by COMFY on the CF \u201cPatients of Ukraine\u201d Platform;<\/li>\n<li>online concert supported by Donor UA and the Ukrainian Charitable Exchange;<\/li>\n<li>2 charitable online concerts Brave Heart. Thank you, Doctor in partnership with USAID and support from another 6 partners and M1TV channel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Team<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>We\u00a0have 200 volunteers working all over Ukraine. Every day they upon their initiative manually collect the needs from hospitals, help to\u00a0purchase, distribute and deliver PPE. Without our volunteers, we\u00a0would have never done all this great work. Thank you, you are a\u00a0true example of\u00a0sacrifice and conscious civic activism. Special thanks to\u00a0the Party Holos for helping to\u00a0create a\u00a0wide network of\u00a0volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>These two months of\u00a0work were a\u00a0real tentamen for\u00a0us. But we\u00a0have never regretted our initiative and every time we\u00a0accept challenges with a\u00a0smile and sincerely welcome new people and new partners in\u00a0our team. In\u00a0such difficult time, when coronavirus pandemic continues and the state does not protect, but creates corrupt schemes in\u00a0procurement of\u00a0protection for doctors, such a\u00a0powerful association of\u00a0many like-minded people\u00a0(us and you) inspires and empowers to\u00a0do\u00a0more every day.
