Our press conference on March 11 in which mothers of children with cystic fibrosis and non-governmental organizations asked the Ministry of Health not to buy low-grade drugs yielded positive results. Due to public pressure, corrupt tender failed because the application was filed by only one party. Manufacturer of the low-grade drugs, which we had opposed, now refused to participate in the tender. This clearly shows the tremendous power of the collaboration of society, patients and journalists. We hope that the re-tender will take into account the interests of young patients, and not bureaucrats, who are interested in money-making, and quality drugs will be procured.
