Together with our partners, we are implementing the project “Aligning Access: Ukraine’s Roadmap for Medical Devices Compliance with EU Requirements” supported by Ukraine2EU. For many people, European integration is primarily associated with political decisions and negotiations. However, it also concerns the rules under which Ukraine’s healthcare system operates.
Medical devices include prostheses, implants, diagnostic tests, consumables, and medical equipment used by millions of patients every day. Ukraine is currently taking steps to align its legislation in this area with European Union standards.
For patients, this is important for several reasons:
🔹 higher safety and quality requirements for medical devices;
🔹 more transparent market oversight and product control rules;
🔹 closer alignment of Ukraine’s healthcare system with European standards.
At the same time, any changes must be implemented in a way that ensures patients do not lose access to essential medical devices during the transition period. That is why, within the project, we will assess the potential impact of upcoming regulatory changes on:
🔹 patients;
🔹 the healthcare system;
🔹 public procurement;
🔹 the medical devices market.
For Patients of Ukraine, this is a new area of work. However, our mission remains unchanged: to represent patients’ interests in decisions that affect access to treatment today and in the future.
