CF “Patients of Ukraine” announces selection of patients to study positive experience of medical reform in hospitals

The Charitable Foundation “Patients of Ukraine” with the support of NED launches a series of visits for patient leaders to hospitals that successfully implement the second stage of the healthcare reform. The main goal is to study the best practices and implement them in other hospitals across the country.

A total of three one-day visits to medical institutions are planned, where the positive results of the reform can be seen in real cases. The trips will take place to three hospitals selected by our foundation together with the National Health Service of Ukraine:

A medical institution that treats and prevents mental illness among the population of Vinnytsia and neighboring regions. It is one of the oldest institutions with a similar focus in Ukraine.

The hospital was one of the first to join the efforts to reform the secondary healthcare system. Today, the institution’s leadership position is confirmed by the best performance indicators among similar specialized hospitals in Ukraine. The hospital was recognized as the “Healthcare Leader of Ukraine 2019” by the National Program “Medical Olympus of Ukraine”.

For its unique approach to organizing the treatment of patients with brain disasters, the European Stroke Organization awarded the hospital’s stroke unit diamond, gold, and platinum status for the first time in Ukraine. This is evidence of the high level of services provided by the institution in this area, which meets European standards of treatment quality.

As Sofia Kucheruk, the director of the institution, notes: “For us, successful experience is strategic planning, daily teamwork, monitoring and feedback. Thanks to a motivated team, friendly attitude, high-quality medical services and comfortable conditions, we have high trust from patients.”

A medical institution that provides outpatient and inpatient care for the population of Stryi and neighboring areas.

The institution was one of the first to join the reform of the secondary healthcare system in Lviv Oblast. For the first time in the Lviv region, the hospital has successfully implemented a project to create a stroke center to provide quality medical services to patients with acute cerebral stroke.

The institution has implemented a quality management system in accordance with ISO – international management quality standards. After all, the key task set by the hospital’s director and staff is to create decent conditions for patient treatment and high-quality conditions for medical staff.

A multidisciplinary medical institution that provides medical care in all pediatric specialties for children in Sumy Oblast and other regions.

The hospital was actively involved in preparing for the reform of the secondary healthcare system back in 2018. Today, a medical institution can be justifiably called a competitive, successful enterprise and a guarantor of a child’s health.

Continuous improvement of the material base and expansion of the range of services provided to patients is the focus of attention of the entire staff and management of the institution. The hospital has become an institution where money follows the patient, and patients choose doctors they trust. Since April 2020 and throughout the past year, the institution has been able to fully provide all sick children whose parents have applied for help with the necessary medicines and consumables free of charge, as well as conduct the necessary examinations.

“Radical changes are never easy,” says Ihor Zmyslya, the hospital’s director. – “During this short period of 4 years of preparation for the healthcare reform and the reform period, we managed to make the structure more efficient, optimize the number of staff at a large regional medical institution, and change the principles of work and even the mindset of doctors who now understand how important it is to be patient-oriented specialists.”
